The Qazaq Kuresi World Cup organized by the Qazaq Kuresi Association with the support of United World Wrestling will take place on September 2 in Ushtobe, Kazakhstan, where 200 athletes from 20 countries will compete. The brothers Alessio and Moreno Carnevale from Fondi (Latina) will fight for the Federazione Italiana Kurash e Lotte Tradizionali (FIKULT), respectively in the weight category -90kg and -82kg. The two athletes are accompanied by the FIKULT manager Nunzio Antonucci, member of the Board of Directors. Traditional wrestling of Kazakhstan, for its ancient origins and cultural importance the Qazaq Kuresi has been declared by UNESCO “Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity”.
The comment of the founder and president of the Federazione Italiana Kurash e Lotte Tradizionali, Vittorio Giorgi: “We are developing the Qazaq Kuresi in Italy and the number of athletes has grown. We are available to organize an international competition in Rome in 2024. Our athlete Mariasole Momente’, thanks to the third place conquered last December at the World Championships in Astana, will go to Riyadh at the end of October for the World Combat Games, a great martial arts event. At the end of the year there will then be the World Championships, where we want to participate with a large team”.
